A Shot in the Dark

Javier Mendoza at Erato Wine Bar.

This place was so dark that even though I was only about eight feet away, you couldn't see his eyes very well. The kicker was that he was sitting in front of a window that faced the street causing some back light problems. In this crowded small venue a flash would have made the crowd very angry with me, so I did the best I could with my new 50mm f/1.4. I took the shot while leaning on a table to cut down on camera shake. ISO was set to 800 and the shutter speed was 1/25. It's not the greatest but it does help to show what is possible with a very fast lens and a steady hand. I would really like to try a fast lens with IS (image stabilization).
