Weekend Images

Here are a few images I made this weekend. The first one is a shot of a sparrow taken in New Haven. It's not good by a long shot but I think I am starting to develop a technique for capturing birds. If it would not have been so cloudy the image would have been a lot less noisy and the colors would have had more pop.

I also made an attempt to capture birds in flight. On our way home from Columbia we spotted a few Turkey Vultures and I got off a few shots before they disappeared from view. They are ugly birds but great to practice on because they move relatively slow in the sky and they are so big. I shot this one at 300mm. It is cropped about 25%

I took this one at Cherry Street Artisan in Columbia. The scene reminded me of a 30s diner and I really liked the way the angled letters push your eyes toward the bottle rack.

I hated most of the images I took at Cherry Street but this one and the one above stood out to me for some reason. I thought that the B&W treatment really brought out the intensity in Javi's face in the image below. It is so much easier to see expressions without color getting in the way.
