Another Warmth Concept

If I decide to do the real thing, I will use a strobe for my key light. I have a few more ideas yet to come, but I am still leaning toward the steaming coffee cup. After reading a bit on the web I think I can make the same steam I got in the test shot look a LOT more dramatic. More to come tomorrow night.....

Why not just capture something "Live" not staged, or "Propped"??????

Good question, although technicality the only staging I did for the flower picture was to set Kim's birthday flower vase on the coffee table. The lights I used are really no different then using an on camera flash with the exception that they light the subject better, and from more than one angle. I do actually prefer natural light if I can get it.

I am hoping that doing things like this will help me learn lighting techniques. I just read a great book on using lights and lighting modifiers to both capture more detail and create effects.

I am also having trouble arranging my schedule to have daylight time. Hopefully this weekend won't be too cloudy.

Thanks for taking the time to look at this stuff and give your opinion. I really appreciate it.

WHEN (not if), you decide to join our group, let me know and I will add you. :)

P.S. You can get a used DSLR and starter lens for about $300..... I would recommend ether a Canon D60($) or a Canon 350D($$) in that order. They have the best price point right now used.

I believe this would be another cool one in b&W.
