Yet another concept for warmth. Believe it or not, I did absolutely no digital enhancement on the steam. The only thing I did post was a bit of noise reduction, and a little bit of cloning on the bottom edge of the end of the handle.
I had a very difficult time balancing the parameters to get a good exposure. The shutter speed had to be more than a 10th of a second to keep the steam from loosing it's detail.
Here is the EXIF Data:
Camera: Canon EOS 30D
Exposure: 0.1 sec (13421773/134217728)
Aperture: f/1.7999999523163
Focal Length: 85 mm
ISO Speed: 400
Exposure Bias: 0 EV
The room had to be very dark to get the highlight on the steam to "pop". As a result I had to raise the ISO to 400. The combination of the ISO and the fact that I had to underexpose it by a full stop made the noise REALLY BAD.
After several more test shots of the "Steaming Cup", I decided to give up on it. Even adding some ice around the base just didn't give me what I was looking for. (although it did help, thanks Big Ez.)
P.S. After looking at this for a while I kind of think the steam stands out too much making it look fake. I don't think this is going to be my entry.... I am going to try and get up early and head out get a nice "warm" sunrise.
P.S.-P.S. Here is another one of the teapot....
