This shot started as a cross lighting test in my new studio space and quickly became a very special image too me. While I adjusted the lights and reflectors my dad (the subject) and I started reminiscing and kept talking while I did the tests. When I reviewed the images this one stood out to me. I am not sure if it is as apparent to others but I see a great deal of emotion in it. Although there is very little expression, I think his eyes speak volumes. I have read several articles by leading portrait photographers and the number one thing they say has lead to their success was developing a rapport with their subject. All I can say is that I think their advice is spot on.
